Following the success of its first year, UNYD Albania returns for its second year. Being the most ambitious project of UNA Albania, The Albanian Youth Delegate to the United Nations program is an opportunity of a lifetime for a gender-balanced team of Albanian youngsters, aged 18 to 28 years old, with a proven commitment to youth empowerment, youth representation, voluntarism, and civic participation, with innovative ideas on how to tackle contemporary issues and who have a proven interest in the United Nations.
This program aims at increasing and encouraging their participation in the decision-making process at the national and international levels through an experience that culminates in their participation in the United Nations General Assembly as youth advisers to the national delegation.
There are three phases in the selection process, the online application, the interviews, and the final debate. Upon their selection, the two delegates begin their journey, participating in meetings with young people throughout Albania, discussing the reality of these communities, the SDGs and youth activism.
Before the General Assembly, the delegates go through interviews, training sessions and seminars. At the General Assembly, they have the opportunity to deliver statements and participate in high-level forums and side events organized during their stay in New York. Upon their arrival, they report on their experience to the Albanian MEFA and UNA Albania, as well as organize and attend different presentations and events with young Albanians.
The call for this year’s generation of Albanian Youth Delegates to the United Nations has launched and will remain open until the 18th of March. Visit the official website for more information: www.unyouthdelegate.al
